Campus Safety
Our office provides a wide range of services for all students, employees, and visitors of the College, seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Please do not hesitate to call on us for assistance.
The department consists of a Director of Campus Safety and seven Community College Peace Officers with powers of arrest. In addition, our staff includes one Supervising Security Guard, one Campus Security Guard (who do not have powers of arrest), a secretary, two Information Desk attendants, and a complement of student aides and work-study students.
The Office of Campus Safety responds to all emergencies on campus. All of our full-time officers have completed an A.A.S. degree and/or Peace Officer Training. All officers have been trained in emergency medical procedures, first aid, CPR, and AED. They have also been licensed with the State of New York in keeping with the requirements of the NYS Security Guard Act. All Campus Security Guards receive a minimum of 40 hours of continuous training each year to update and hone their skills. We are responsible for enforcement of all federal, State, and local laws as well as College regulations. We also enforce laws regulating underage drinking, the use and possession of controlled substances, and weapons.
