Building a Culture of Sustainability
Become part of a network of sustainability advocates at FLCC. Our alumni, faculty, and staff continue championing sustainability in their respective fields. Join us in promoting sustainability and contributing to environmental initiatives. Together, we can make a difference.
We organize sustainability events to engage our community in conversations about environmental stewardship. From raising awareness and workshops to guest lectures, our events provide a space for learning and taking action.
Annual Campus Clean-Up
Every year, students, faculty, and staff participate in a campus clean-up event celebrating Earth Day. The event brings dozens of volunteers together to collect over 500 pounds of garbage in the area.
Spreading awareness and educating the broader community about sustainability matters. Muller Field Station and East Hill Campus collaborate with schools and organizations to offer educational programs on environmental topics. By sharing knowledge and inviting the public to spend time in nature, we empower individuals to make informed choices and take action for a sustainable lifestyle.
K-12 Programs at Muller Field Station
K-12 educators can encourage scientific inquiry and build environmental awareness by partnering with Muller Field Station for a class field trip. We provide programming on ecosystem discovery, wildlife exploration, nature journaling, and more.
A Talk on the Wild Side
This speaker series features an interesting environmental or cultural topic each month. Our speakers cover diverse subjects, including bat biology, plant science, herpetology, lake health, astronomy, indigenous traditions, and more.
Community Channel Paddles
Canoe or kayak through the silver maple-ash swamp to see the biological diversity of the region. Meet up with other nature lovers at Muller Field Station. Take a guided paddle north to Honeoye Lake (if the beavers allow it) or south into the heart of the wetland. Along the way, you will learn about the history of the watershed and the flora and fauna of the swamp.
Community and environmental projects help students appreciate nature and our interconnected world. We provide students with opportunities to apply their skills and knowledge to benefit campus and community projects and nurture a sense of civic responsibility.
Salamander Crossing
Every year, students, faculty, and volunteers gather on West Lake Road near Honeoye to help salamanders safely migrate to the wetlands where they live and lay eggs.
Stewardship Days
Muller Field Station's annual Stewardship Days invites community members to collaborate with FLCC students and interns on habitat restoration, invasive species removal, clean-up, and gardening projects.
