Center for Teaching and Learning: Professional Development Projects
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Planning Board accepts project proposals annually on the first day of the Spring semester. Proposals will be considered on a first come, first serve basis until funds are exhausted. Applicants are encouraged to submit their proposals for any project to be completed during that calendar year. The Planning Board will review proposals once a month at their monthly meeting. Please note that there is a specific electronic application form for each of the three project types described below. Electronic application forms should be submitted to Kelli Prior, Coordinator of the Center for Teaching and Learning (priorka@flcc.edu).
I. PEDAGOGICAL ENHANCEMENT PROJECT (PEP)
These projects involve efforts to improve teaching effectiveness. This should include some form of innovation in the classroom that will maximize student learning and that is beyond the scope of typical teaching responsibilities.
This is a great opportunity to pilot ideas which cannot wait for a full sabbatical. Substantial change with well-defined expected outcomes is sought in any combination of the following:
- Innovative approaches to teaching and learning
- Technology applications to improve learning
- Innovative classroom handbooks, workbooks or manuals
- Other Improvements or projects in teaching and learning
If your project is approved by the CTL Planning Board, you will sign a contract detailing your proposed project. Upon completion of your project, you must submit a final report electronically to the Coordinator of the Center for Teaching and Learning. It will then be reviewed and approved by the CTL Coordinator and the Associate VP of Instruction & Assessment at which time you will receive your payment. It is expected that you will share your results in future workshops.
On the application, you will be asked to detail the time commitment for the project and request a commensurate level of compensation (typically equivalent of 1-3 contact hours, paid at $800/contact hour).

It is expected that each internship would be completed in January or during the Summer when regular classes are not in session. Your internship must be between ten and twenty hours in length. You will receive $1000.00 following completion of a final report detailing your internship.
