FULL-TIME PROFESSIONAL/ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS

 

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT

Senior level administrative position responsible for management of major institutional projects and the coordination of accreditation activities and institutional effectiveness measures. Facilitates the work of senior staff to ensure the College meets its strategic and operational objectives and to determine the data/information needs of the College. Represents the President at a variety of functions including meetings of educational organizations, governmental and community groups, as required. Master’s Degree in higher education administration, management, business or related field and minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in institutional research, management, planning, legal affairs or related field, preferably in a higher education setting. Community college experience desirable. Excellent quantitative, organizational, interpersonal and project management skills required. Experience with the higher educational accreditation process and institutional research and planning is expected. ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

Responsible for the direction and leadership of student and residence life, student health, academic standards, judicial affairs, advisement and personal development. Provide leadership for the development and implementation of student affairs policies that support a quality living/learning environment support student retention and success. Create a culture of evaluation and assessment that leads to continual improvement.

Candidate should have knowledge of residence life issues, student affairs practices, laws, and regulations. Must be able to foster a strong relationship between student and academic affairs and possess strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and communication skills. Show demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships, mentor staff and students, and promote high ethical standards.

Master’s Degree in student personnel services, higher education, adult education, or related field required. Seven (7) years of related student affairs experience, at least 3 of which have been in an administrative position(s); community college experience preferred. Experience in judicial affairs and/or residence life preferred. Must have demonstrated ability to supervise and provide leadership in administering a comprehensive student affairs program.

Develop and implement strategic, comprehensive, and integrated communication and marketing plan to strengthen the College’s image locally and regionally. Emphasize College’s unique identity and qualities that appeal to its key audiences. Bachelors degree required in marketing, communications, business, or closely related field. Masters degree preferred. Minimum 7 years full time experience in marketing, preferably in a college setting. Experience in development, implementation, and evaluation of marketing plans. In depth understanding of the Internet as a marketing tool and as state of the art Internet marketing strategies. Experience with tracking systems for online and print marketing strategies. UNIX/LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR – SPECIALIST 1

The System Administrator manages and operates Linux/Unix-based servers supporting instruction and student computing to include e-mail, web services, the academic programming environment and library services.  This individual will be part of a team that works with faculty and staff in support, training and consulting on the expanding use of information technology in instruction, academic services, and marketing.  The position also provides back-up system administration for servers supporting Active Directory and enterprise network services.  Finger Lakes Community College is located on a 250 acre campus in Canandaigua, NY in the heart of the scenic Finger Lakes area.  The College is affiliated with the State University of New York and offers an excellent benefits package.

Position Duties:
The Computer Systems Administrator assists the Academic Computing Services Coordinator in managing and supporting the instructional computing resources and services utilized by students and faculty at FLCC.  The Computer Systems Administrator assumes primary responsibility for management and operation of Student e-mail servers, public and instructional web servers, those servers which provide a multi-user instructional programming environment, and the Library LAN. 

In addition, this position provides operational support for the Instructional LAN servers, and is backup system administrator for these servers as well as those which provide employee desktop services running Active Directory.  The position also provides support to the Network Administrator, for the College’s instructional network infrastructure to include configuration, operation and management of switches, time servers and other relevant computing equipment.  

Specific responsibilities include: 

  1. Serve as primary system administrator for Student e-mail servers, faculty/student instructional web servers, and servers which provide a multi-user instructional programming environment, to include hardware and software upgrades, account creation, backups and security procedures.
  2. Ensure the effective functionality of the above systems by providing continuing upgrades to the operating system and applications software.  Ensure an efficient and effective approach to system management through proficient use of script programming (php, perl, C, Python, VBS, etc.).
  3.  Provide operational support, in cooperation with the Academic Computing Coordinator, for the Instructional LAN Servers.
  4. Manage and maintain Library LAN servers.
  5. Respond to Help Desk calls by providing direct support to students, faculty and staff in the use of relevant e-mail, web and other resources.
  6. Provide ongoing operational support, in cooperation with the Network Administrator, of the Academic network infrastructure to include troubleshooting and component replacement, traffic management, and switch configuration and re-loading.  Provide assistance as needed to the Network Administrator in supporting central machine room equipment, UPS’s and backbone network servers.
  7. Work in cooperation with the Enterprise Technology Coordinator to maintain the operability of enterprise-wide computing services.  Serve as back-up system administrator for systems running Active Directory.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field required with a minimum equivalent of one year experience in the administration of Unix/Linux-based systems.  Alternatively, an Associate’s degree in a computer related field with five years experience in Unix/Linux system administration.  An interest in exploring and supporting emerging uses of technology in education is an important aspect of success in the position.  Additional experience with SQL programming, Apache Server, and Active Directory is a plus.  Experience in an educational environment, and support of support of instruction, e-mail, library functions, desktop/laptop computing, and web services is also desirable.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT POSITIONS - FALL 2008

  • REGISTERED NURSE
    Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required, Master’s degree preferred. License to practice nursing in NYS, two years recent medical-surgical hospital experience, and knowledge of audio/visual equipment including the operation of computers required. Supervise students and assist faculty in all phases of the Nursing Practice Laboratory and the Nursing Media Center as well as participate in other phases of Nursing Department activity. Knowledge of simulated hospital laboratory and familiarity with budgeting and data collection desirable. Works closely with students and faculty in simulated lab situations. 10 months per year with full benefits. No holidays or nights.

  • MULTIMEDIA INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER
    Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Technology, or Instructional Design required. One year experience in on-line learning, instructional design, educational technology. Provide instructional design support to faculty for on-line courses. The MID is the first contact for the faculty and should have the ability to multi task, problem solve and have strong project management. Analyze and organize complex technical information into effective programs. Ability to apply various learning styles and approaches to the content. Develop course materials in the Angel Learning Management System. Test and debug e-learning modules for quality assurance. Knowledge of e-learning software such as Flash, Dreamweaver, Captivate, synchronous tools and Photoshop.


  • COMMUNICATIONS/NEW MEDIA SPECIALIST
    Bachelor’s degree in computer graphics, broadcasting, multimedia or related field required. One year experience in web design and video production including nonlinear editing; extensive Macintosh computer experience working with Avid, ProTools, and Adobe Creative Suite required. Experience with a LAN share system preferred. Supervise Media lab and assist with productions and events. Train students on graphic design, video and audio software and equipment, equipment maintenance, Avid LAN share system maintenance and assist with live video productions. Some night and weekend work is required.
